Tang Dynasty
The tang dynasty (A.D. 618-907), with its capital at Chang'an is regarded by historians as a high point in Chinese civilization equal, or even superior, to the Han period. Its territory, acquired through the military exploits of its early rulers, was greater than that of the Han. Stimulated by contact with India and the Middle East, the empire saw a flowering of creativity in many fields. Buddhism, originating in India around the time of Confucius, flourished during the Tang period, becoming thoroughly Chinese and a permanent part of Chinese traditional culture. Block printing was invented, making the written word available to vastly greater audiences. The Tang period was the golden age of literature and art. A government system supported by a large class of Confucian literati selected through civil service examinations was perfected under Tang rule. This competitive procedure was designed to draw the best talents into government. But perhaps an even greater consideration for the Tang rulers, aware that imperial dependence on powerful aristocratic families and warlords would have destabilizing consequences, was to create a body of career...

Goldfish pond
The much-loved Goldfish was one of the earliest fish ever to be domesticated. It is a small member of the carp family. The Goldfish pond saw its origin in the Tang Dynasty of China. It was at this time that genetic mutation of carps produced the golden or the yellowy or ange coloration on the carp. The chinese emperor exclusively maintained the first Goldfish pond, a luxury that he denied his subjects. It was a symbol breeding in captivity led to more mutations. More striking colors led to the birth of the fancy Goldfish variety.
TVB Here Come's The Princess,Coming 2010
Damn I still haven't figured how to post in the right topic on MyLot just yet and accidentally posted this discussion where no one would likely see it.I was surfing on the internet the other day and came across the TVB 2010 sales presentation. There was one movie in particular that I really wanted to see,it's called Here Comes The Princess (as in she's coming soon, better be prepared). Because I'm not allowed to copy and paste just yet,you can find the clip on youtube. It looks hilarious,so the series is definitely a comedy.Stars Charmaine Sheh,Moses Chan,Fala Chen,Linda Chung,Kenneth MaSomething about a spinster princess (Charmaine)who no one wants to marry, but the royal match maker (Kenneth)finds her this impoverished goldsmith guy(Moses)to marry. The goldsmith is kind of pressured into becoming the prince consort by his family and his finances. Here's what the transcript of the clip says (or part of it anyway because it takes too long to type)Tang Dynasty era were the pinnacle of female supremacy Men fear it's princesses the most People said that a princess doesn't need to worry about marriage But is this true? Just take a look at expression of the prince...
Major Cities
China now has 668 cities, of which 13 have populations of more than two million each; 24, between one and two million; 48, between 500,000 and one million; 205, between 200,000 and 500,000; and 378, less than 200,000.Beijing Beijing is a municipality directly under the Central Government and the capital of the PRC, with an urban population of 7.34 million. It is not only the nation's political center, but also its cultural, scientific and educational center, and a key transportation hub. Situated on the north edge of the North China Plain, it is sheltered by chain upon chain of mountains to the west, north and east. Its southeastern part is a plain. Beijing's temperate continental climate produces four clearly contrasted seasons: a short spring, rainy and humid summer, long and cold winter, and a very pleasant autumn.Beijing emerged as a city as far back as the Western Zhou Dynasty (11th century-770 B.C.), then known as Ji. During the Warring States Period (475-221 B.C.) it was the capital of the State of Yan. Ji had ever since remained a city of strategic importance and a trade center for the north for well over a thousand years. Then, in the early 10th century, it became...
