myLot Topics| Do you like Chinese art?--I'll introduce a Chinese art "bird & flower character" | | "Chinese Bird & flower character"--It's a type of Chinese written characters. They are characters, but their strokes are made in the form of birds and flowers. Artists/Calligraphers combine calligraphy and art of painting when writing, so the works are not only characters, but also pictures. This kind of art is popular in China. Many people ask the artists to write their names or put down some mottos in this way. Some present their friends as gifts. People put such charaters on the wall of their halls or study as a decoration or method of encouraging themselves.
Next time,I will upload some samples for you to enjoy. | |

| | A Tale of Two Museums | | As scholars, researchers and archeologists at the Shanghai Museum slowly reconstruct fragments of ancient hand scroll paintings and stone Buddhist sculptures, they are simultaneously trying to piece together a massive puzzle - one that stretches out in four dimensions. And when these "art detectives" focus on the fourth, or time, element of the puzzle, which includes millennia of Chinese civilization, they find that many pieces of the past have been lost or shattered through war and revolution. While great swaths of China's imperial-era culture have been looted or destroyed by foreign invaders or Chinese combatants over the past 150 years, the country has now embarked on a great restoration project, says Shanghai Museum curator Li Chaoyuan."The more deeply we understand ancient Chinese civilization, the better we can construct an enlightened future," says Li. The Shanghai Museum's design, which features a circular roof above a rectangular base, is at the cutting edge of Chinese architecture, but also symbolizes the union of Heaven and Earth in a modern echo of centuries old Chinese temples. Beneath a vast crystalline dome, middle school students gather around a touch-screen... | |
| | what do you think about the movie kung fu panda | | today and banks to see this movie and one thing which I can tell you is that DreamWorks did an amazing piece of it with the movie. They proved their quality in every shot of the movie. Being in China it is a bit difficult to portray the actual Chinese field in the movie will which they were successful in doing inch perfect. All the characters had a typical three of the Chinese lifetime, the environments were really looking like that of China with all the ambience, landscapes giving the typical of the first of the music was also used in a very appropriate manner which multiplied the effect. The story I personally feel is a very good one which has a very good message with it and also they have definitely added a very nice humour elements to the movie.the main character is a panda which is definitely not something which you will relate with the fighting art but definitely they did a wonderful job with his fighting moves. It is always difficult even to copy the Chinese art if you're doing a light action movie so I was amazed that they were able to reproduce that in an animated movie. It shows how much preproduction work they must have done before actually starting to work on the... | |
| | I love horses and I drew this one today | | I have a group over at Gather called the Drawing Challenge Art Theme of the Week group and there's a different art theme every week. So this week, July 13, 2008 thru July 19, 2008 the art theme is Anything Asian. I love horses A LOT and it makes me feel good to draw them so, I always try to incorporate a horse somewhere in each weekly art theme. So I found an old Chinese art book, found a picture of a horse and groom but I just wanted the horse. I knew what I wanted it to look like but I wasn't sure I could do it the way I saw it in my mind but I did! Here is one Chinese-style horse parchment picture, drawn by me in MS Paint and then taken to LunaPic Photo Editor and blurred and then taken to Microsoft Photo Editor and smudged and texturized. Whew! That's a mouthful LOL It's not necessarily the kind of picture I want to draw often, I like more color and the old style horses are different but I'm really excited how this one turned out so I wanted to share it with everyone! | |
